[ARCHIVED] Mark Vincent Marsh pleads guilty to carjacking with a firearm and assault and battery

Charlottesville

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 25, 2021

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Yesterday in Charlottesville Circuit Court, Mark Vincent Marsh pleaded guilty to carjacking with a firearm and assault and battery. The plea stems from an incident that took place on January 10, 2020, in which a Good Samaritan observed a female being assaulted by Mr. Marsh on Rives Street.

When the Good Samaritan attempted to intervene, Mr. Marsh pulled out a firearm and forcibly took the Good Samaritan’s vehicle at gunpoint and fled.  The vehicle was abandoned and recovered later that same day by law enforcement.

Mr. Marsh is scheduled to be sentenced on November 23, 2021, and faces a sentence of between 15 years and life in prison.

“Thankfully, no one was seriously injured or killed," said Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Andrew Wilder. "This agreement serves to document the random and violent conduct of Mr. Marsh and allows the Court to fashion a fair and appropriate sentence.”

The Commonwealth dropped a robbery charge and two related firearms charges.
