Police Civilian Oversight Board to Host Community Town Hall Meeting
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Police Civilian Oversight Board (PCOB) of Charlottesville will host a community town hall meeting on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Carver Recreation Center, located at 233 4th St., NW, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
This is an opportunity for community members to voice concerns about the PCOB and the Charlottesville Police Department, ask questions, and work together to build a safer, more inclusive community. Attendees are encouraged to share any recommendations they may have for improving the relationship between law enforcement and their communities.
"This town hall is designed to create an open dialogue between the community and the oversight board," said Inez Gonzalez, Executive Director of the PCOB. "We want to hear directly from residents about their concerns and ideas for strengthening police-community relationships."
The Board members and Executive Director will be available to answer questions and address any misconceptions regarding the scope and limitations of the PCOB's authority. The event aims to foster transparency and build trust between the community, the oversight board, and the police department.
Spanish speakers will be available at the event to ensure accessibility for Spanish-speaking community members. Refreshments will be provided, and attendees will receive complimentary PCOB promotional items.
Community input is vital to the PCOB's mission of enhancing accountability and improving police services in Charlottesville. All residents are encouraged to attend and participate in this important conversation.
