Sara C. Bronin to Visit Charlottesville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville and Preservation Piedmont invite the community to a talk with Sara C. Bronin Saturday, October 5th at 2 PM at CitySpace.
Sara C. Bronin is a Mexican-American architect, attorney, Cornell University professor, and policymaker whose interdisciplinary work focuses on how law and policy can foster more equitable, sustainable, well-designed, and connected places. She is the author of Key to the City: How Zoning Shapes Our World, and she founded and directs the National Zoning Atlas, which aims to digitize, demystify, and democratize information about zoning in the United States.
"In Key to the City, Sara C. Bronin argues that the solution is not to abolish zoning but to reimagine it, showing us how we can rewrite our zoning codes in the hope of using them to bring about the civilized cities that we deserve" said Author Paul Goldberger.
Deputy City Manager for Operations James Freas and President of Piedmont Preservation Genevieve Keller will give opening remarks. Sara will then discuss her book and hold a Q & A session. We invite attendees to purchase a copy of Key to the City: How Zoning Shapes Our World at New Dominion Bookshop prior to this event.
Light refreshments will be served.
