City of Charlottesville Facilities Closed Monday, January 26 Due to Winter Storm
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Due to ongoing impacts from the winter storm and continued hazardous conditions, City Hall and all City of Charlottesville facilities will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The closure is intended to protect public safety while allowing emergency response and recovery operations to continue.
City staff who are able to work remotely will be doing so and remain available to support community needs. Essential employees will continue working around the clock, including snow and ice crews and emergency responders, to clear roadways and help keep the community safe.
Residents are reminded to:
- Avoid unnecessary travel and remain off the roads if possible
- Use caution when walking or driving, especially in areas affected by ice
- Check on neighbors who may need assistance, particularly older adults and those with limited mobility
City services and operations will resume as conditions allow. Updates regarding reopening, service impacts, and safety information will be shared through the City’s website and official social media channels.
Residents are encouraged to visit www.charlottesville.gov for the latest information.
For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergency concerns, call 434-977-9041.
The City thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as crews continue to respond to winter weather conditions.
Stay warm. Stay Safe. And take care of each other.
