City of Charlottesville to Perform System Maintenance January 19th

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA –  The City of Charlottesville will be performing system maintenance on all network, internet and phone services on Sunday, January 19 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

 If you have business with the following City departments, please see below for details:

Department of Social Services
To report a child protective services concern, call

  • Virginia Child Protective Services Hotline Phone: 1-800-552-7096

To report an adult protective services concern, call

  • Virginia Adult Protective Services Hotline Phone: 1-888-832-3858 


Jefferson-Madison Regional Library
Central Library will be open from 1 - 5 PM, however:

  • No phone or voicemail service at the Central, Gordon Avenue, Northside, or Crozet branches
  • No internet or wireless service at the Central, Gordon Avenue, Northside, Crozet, Greene, or Scottsville branches
  • No outdoor locker access at the Gordon Avenue, Crozet, Greene, or Scottsville branches
  • avenue.org and all of its community-hosted websites will be unavailable
  • jmrl.org and online catalogs will be accessible

Reminder: All libraries are closed Monday, January 20 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day


Parks and Recreation
Parks & Recreation facilities will be open for their regular scheduled hours, but some features/amenities may not be available due to the network outage. For phone access on January 19, please use the alternate numbers listed below for the affected facilities:

  • Carver Recreation Center: 434-981-0411
  • Smith Aquatic & Fitness Center: 434-981-6981


Police
If you require emergency assistance, please dial 9-1-1. For non-emergency dispatch, please call 434-977-9041.


Utilities
During the City's phone outage, to report a water main break, sewer backup or gas leak, or if you have a utility service inquiry or questions regarding utility operations, please call Utilities Dispatch at 434-293-9164. 

The following services will be unavailable for up to the full duration of the maintenance window:

  • GIS Viewer
  • Large Item Pickup
  • Passport Scheduler
  • Utility Billing Applications
  • Parking Citation Appeals
  • Business Tax Portal
