Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority Lifts Drought Watch
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA –The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority (RWSA) has officially lifted a drought watch for the Albemarle County and Charlottesville service area after receiving over 9 inches of rain in September.
The Rivanna Regional Drought Response Committee recommended lifting the drought watch after local reservoirs and streams returned to normal levels. The Virginia Drought Monitoring Task Force recently issued a report which indicated our area is no longer in a drought watch status. As of October 2, 2024, our reservoirs are at 100% of usable capacity due to the significant amount of precipitation that the area has received over the past several days.
While our area is no longer in a drought watch, we encourage people to practice efficient water use to conserve our water resources.
