Dweh Sentenced to 18 Years

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Today, in Charlottesville Circuit Court, Judge Claude V. Worrell sentenced Eric Dweh to 18 years in prison for attempted malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, and a probation violation for a March 5, 2024 shooting occurring on the basketball court on 6th Street in the City of Charlottesville. 13 years of the time imposed by the court was suspended leaving an active sentence to serve of five years in prison.   

Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania reiterated that “the Charlottesville Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, in partnership with the Charlottesville Police Department, will continue to prioritize the prosecution of firearm-related offenses in our community.” This case was prosecuted by Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Nina-Alice Antony.
