Charlottesville's Bike Month Culminates with Festive All-Ages Bike Parade

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — The City of Charlottesville will cap off C'ville Bike Month 2025 with a spectacular Bike Parade, bringing together cyclists of all ages and experience levels for a festive celebration of biking in the community. The event will take place on Saturday, May 31 at 9:00 AM, starting from the City Market at 100 Water Street.

The all-ages, family-friendly parade will feature a guided 1.3-mile route through downtown Charlottesville, designed to be inclusive and accessible for participants of every skill level. Families with very small children can opt for a shorter route around the block before joining the larger group for the final stretch across the finish line.

Participants are encouraged to embrace the festive spirit by decorating their bikes with lights, dressing in costumes, adding streamers to handlebars, and getting creative with over-the-top decorations. The event promises to be loud, fun, and celebratory as cyclists safely navigate the route together as a group, ensuring no one gets left behind.

"Charlottesville has really amazed us with their participation in Bike Month this year and we're thrilled to cap off the month with an epic, inclusive celebration of biking for all ages and experience levels," said Tommy Safranek, Bike & Pedestrian Coordinator for the City of Charlottesville. "This is a special opportunity to take up space in a safe way and to show the greater community that bikes are an important part of our city culture and its future."

In addition to the parade, Endeavor Cycles (link) will host an e-bike demonstration from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offering participants the chance to test ride electric bikes (e-bikes). Whether trying an e-bike for the first time or considering a purchase, attendees can experience the latest in electric bike technology during the festivities.

The event serves as a celebration of the community's dedication to bike advocacy, infrastructure improvements, and the collective miles logged throughout Bike Month. It provides an opportunity for cyclists to ride safely with peers in a no-pressure environment while demonstrating the vibrant cycling culture in Charlottesville.

Those who prefer not to ride are welcome to attend as spectators and cheerleaders, supporting the cycling community and enjoying the festive atmosphere!
