Mr. Agrawal has served most recently as Community Development Director for the City of Milton, GA


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Acting City Manager John Blair announces the appointment of Parag Agrawal as Director of Neighborhood Development Services.

Mr. Agrawal has been with the City of Milton, GA (pop. 40,000) since 2018 where he administered the daily operations of the Community Development Department’s five function areas, including Planning and Zoning, Building Services, Land Development, Code Enforcement, and Land Conservation.

Mr. Agrawal has over 18 years’ experience in comprehensive planning, economic development, multimodal transportation systems, urban design, and historic preservation.

“It is an honor to appoint Mr. Agrawal to lead Charlottesville’s Neighborhood Development Services Department. He has experience managing a large team and skills that are well-suited to the current needs of not only the Department, but also our City,” said Blair. “I’d also like to express my appreciation to Alex Ikefuna and Missy Creasy for their service in the department during this search.”

Mr. Agrawal’s professional experience includes directing statewide planning in Rhode Island during 2015-2018 and serving as Planning Director in Bridgeport, CT during 2012-2015. He held additional positions in planning in Anne Arundel County, MD and in historic preservation in Columbus, OH.

Mr. Agrawal earned a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University. He has an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Aligarh University in India.

"The Neighborhood Development Services Department has very committed and talented team members, and we will work together to serve the residents of Charlottesville," said Agrawal. "I want to thank Mr. Blair for this opportunity and I look forward to working with him in his current role and as City Attorney."

Mr. Alex Ikefuna will serve as Deputy Director for Zoning alongside Ms. Missy Creasy who will maintain her status as Deputy Director for Planning. Mr. Agrawal will report initially to Acting City Manager John Blair and he will start his service in the City of Charlottesville November 30, 2020.
