UPDATE: Charlottesville's Grand Illumination Rescheduled to Wednesday, December 10
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - UPDATE 3:00 PM December 5: Charlottesville's Grand Illumination has been rescheduled to Wednesday, December 10 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Ting Pavilion.
Due to deteriorating weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of attendees, performers, vendors, and staff, the City of Charlottesville has canceled the Grand Illumination event scheduled for this evening.
City staff are actively exploring potential backup dates sometime next week. We will share an update with the community as soon as it is determined whether a reschedule is possible.
“We know how much our community looks forward to this annual tradition,” said Director of Communications and Public Engagement, Afton Schneider. “While we are disappointed to cancel, the safety of our residents and guests must come first.”
We encourage everyone to stay warm and stay safe as this weather system moves through the area.
For updates, please follow the City of Charlottesville on official social media channels on Facebook and Instagram or visit the Charlottesville's Grand Illumination website or the City of Charlottesville's website.
