City of Charlottesville to Celebrate Completion of Rugby Avenue Shared Use Path
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The City of Charlottesville will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Rugby Avenue Shared Use Path, a project that extends from Westwood Road to the skate park ramp near McIntire Park.
This ceremony marks an important milestone for the City and its partners as part of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) project portfolio.
Construction on the Rugby Avenue Shared Use Path began in April and was completed in October. The new path provides a safer and more accessible connection for pedestrians, cyclists, and other trail users, linking neighborhoods with nearby recreation areas and supporting the City’s long-term vision for active transportation and connectivity.
“The Rugby Avenue path represents years of planning and collaboration to create safer, more sustainable travel options in Charlottesville,” said City Manager, Sam Sanders. “This project highlights our commitment to improving infrastructure that benefits all residents.”
The City extends its appreciation to VDOT, local contractors, and community partners who contributed to bringing this long-planned project to completion.
