Marcel Washington Pleads Guilty
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Today, in Charlottesville Circuit Court, Judge Richard E. Moore accepted the guilty pleas of Marcel Darell Washington for second degree murder and two counts of malicious wounding. Judge Moore sentenced Washington to 80 years in prison, with 35 years suspended, leaving an active period of incarceration of 45 years. The three sentences comprising the 45 years will run concurrently leaving an active sentence to serve of 25 years. The 35-year suspended sentence was conditioned on 10 years of intensive supervised probation and 40 years of good behavior. The case was prosecuted by Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania and Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Nina-Alice Antony.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Platania stated, “while no sentence can bring back Davonn Wilson or heal the wounds and trauma of the other two victims, today marks some degree of closure as those affected and their families attempt to heal and move forward.”
