Real Estate Tax Relief for Elderly and Disabled - Applications Open Until April 1
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville, in its ongoing efforts to promote and preserve home ownership, is once again offering Real Estate Tax Relief for the Elderly and Disabled.
Applications are due April 1, 2024.
Qualifications required for the grant:
- Applicants must be 65 years of age or older or permanently and totally disabled (proof of disability required) as of December 31 of the prior year
- Property for which the exemption is claimed must be located in the City of Charlottesville and occupied as the sole dwelling of the applicant
- Applicants may not own any other real estate
- Combined Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for the prior year for applicant, applicant’s spouse, and any co-owners residing in the home cannot $61,650
