Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Formerly the Food Stamps Program

Provides assistance with food needs for individuals and families.
A swipe card is used in the grocery store to purchase food items.
Eligibility is determined on the basis of a household’s size, income and resources.
Households with little or no income and resources are eligible for expedited SNAP benefits (7 days to process).
