Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Formerly the Food Stamps Program

• Provides assistance with food needs for individuals and families. 
• A swipe card is used in the grocery store to purchase food items. 
• Eligibility is determined on the basis of a household’s size, income and resources. 
• Households with little or no income and resources are eligible for expedited SNAP benefits (7 days to process).
