Help us bring attention to the importance of finding and fixing leaks in your home by participating in our Fix a Leak Events! Put on your detective hat and help us find and fix leaks in your home by going on your own home scavenger hunt. Complete this home scavenger hunt and submit your answers by April 13th to be entered to win a special prizes! You can attach your completed Home Scavenger Hunt here or fill in your answers below.
Home Scavenger Hunt Worksheet (PDF)
Only those living in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County are eligible for prizes.
If you answered "YES" to any question- select "YES".
If you have completed a paper Home Scavenger Hunt Worksheet (PDF) you can submit your responses directly here (you can scan or take a photo of your responses, just make sure your responses are legible). You only need to send the one side with the Yes/No questions in your bathroom, kitchen, laundry room and basement, and outside.
Some leaks require a simple fix- a worn toilet flapper, loose pipe connection, or showerhead with stray spray. But you may want to consult a licensed plumber to stop your running toilet, broken sprinkler, water heater drips, or malfunctioning water supply lines.
Before we inspect the bathroom, we’ll need to grab some food coloring from the kitchen. Squirt a few drops in the upper tank of your toilet and wait 10 minutes.
A Full dishwasher is the most water efficient!
Participants that have submitted a FULLY COMPLETED WORKSHEET by April 13th will be entered to win one of several $50 gift card from a local gardening business. Winners will be announced April 22nd.
Fix a Leak Week (March 16th – 22nd)
