Celebrate National Farmers Market Week with Charlottesville’s Local Markets
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – It’s National Farmers Market Week (August 3–9), and the City of Charlottesville is celebrating the vital role that farmers markets play in supporting local agriculture, strengthening community connections, and improving food access.
Charlottesville is proud to host two vibrant farmers markets:
- City Market – Saturdays, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM at 100 E. Water Street
- Farmers in the Park – Wednesdays, 3:00 PM–7:00 PM at Penn Park
These markets feature a diverse mix of fresh produce, artisan goods, baked items, flowers, and more—offered by local farmers, bakers, and makers from around Central Virginia. Both markets also proudly participate in the Virginia Fresh Match program, which helps stretch SNAP benefits to make healthy, local food more affordable.
As part of the national celebration, Charlottesville City Market is also competing in the 17th annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration™, hosted by American Farmland Trust. This competition highlights the nation’s favorite markets, and you can help City Market earn national recognition and a share of the $15,000 prize pool!
Vote today at https://markets.farmland.org/markets/314076 and show your love for Charlottesville’s longest-running farmers market.
Join us this week—and every week—to support local farmers and experience the best of your community!
