Traffic Advisory: Street Closure Along Barracks Road Saturday June 21, 2025
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville Parks and Recreation will be removing several hazardous trees along steep embankments on Barracks Road between Hessian Road and Hilltop Road Saturday, June 21 from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Traffic control crews will be working with Big O Tree and Lawn Service to safely divert traffic. Any private homeowners with driveway access along the affected route will be able to access properties for the duration of work and pedestrians will be able to access sidewalks throughout the day.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate traffic routes during this time. Work zones will be flagged with cones and traffic signals. Pedestrians and motorists should be alert and aware of the tree work and exercise caution around work zone perimeters. The primary objective of this work detail is to reduce hazard potential to pedestrians and property that may otherwise result from tree failure.
Questions regarding the project should be directed to 434-970-3587.
