American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Courses
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Are you a strong swimmer, looking for a summer job in Aquatics, great job experience to put on your college applications or resume? Our community is experiencing a lifeguard shortage, and Charlottesville Parks and Recreation wants to saturate our community with certified lifeguards to establish safe aquatic opportunities for everyone.
Charlottesville Parks & Recreation will be offering American Red Cross Certification courses for new or expired candidates starting in December 2022 through April 2023. These certification courses will be offered for FREE to candidates who can pass the In Water Pre-Test skill requirements. Participation in a lifeguard class does not guarantee certification; come prepared to learn a new skill and complete all required tasks. Online classwork is required prior to the first scheduled in-class session.
Registration for these courses begins Monday, December 5 – online at https://www.charlottesville.gov/156/Parks-Recreation. Call in registration to Carver Rec Center (434) 970-3053 at 6:00 am, Smith AFC (434) 970-3072 at 7:00 am and our Downtown office (434) 970-3260 at 8:00 am. Once registration is complete, please reach out to our Aquatic Team at Aquatics@charlottesville.gov to schedule your In Water Pre-Test. SPACE IS LIMITED, so sign up today.
