[ARCHIVED] Climate Vulnerability Assessment Process Kicking Off

Text announcing an

Moving forward with its commitment to develop a Climate Adaptation Plan, the City of Charlottesville is taking the first steps to complete a Climate Vulnerability Assessment.

The Climate Vulnerability Assessment will assess potential impacts from climate change and identify priorities for adaptation. To understand which sectors, assets, and populations might be particularly vulnerable to those changes, we are relying on the knowledge and experience of government staff and the greater community. We highly encourage you to be a part of this conversation, starting with a Community Forum on October 25th.

An introduction to the Climate Vulnerability Assessment Process will also be held via Zoom on Friday, October 15 at 2:00PM (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88625830272).

Charlottesville is likely to see significant change in seasonal patterns, as well as an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. What sectors, assets, and populations in Charlottesville do you think are most vulnerable to these changes and hazards? The purpose of this forum is to discuss this question and hear from a variety of perspectives. A majority of this discussion will take place in small groups to ensure that every attendee has an opportunity to provide their insight on this complex and urgent question. Please watch the Projected Climate Hazards and Process Overview recording prior to attending this forum, as it provides important background information.
