City to Maintain Public Safety Presence Tomorrow Morning for Schools

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA –  As Charlottesville City Schools operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, the City of Charlottesville is reminding residents of ongoing safety measures in place to support students traveling to school amid lingering winter weather conditions.

The City will maintain a visible public safety presence tomorrow morning, with police and fire personnel positioned throughout the community to support student safety during bus pickups and pedestrian travel. This proactive effort is focused on helping children reach school safely as winter conditions continue to impact sidewalks and roadways.

The City is urging drivers to slow down, remain alert, and watch for children walking to bus stops or school, particularly in areas where winter conditions may still affect travel.

“Our top priority is keeping kids safe,” said City Manager Sam Sanders. “With schools reopening on a delay, we’re asking everyone to take extra care, slow down, watch for students, and give our kids the space they need to travel safely.”

Residents are encouraged to use caution when traveling during the morning commute and to remain patient as students and families return to regular routines.

The City will continue to monitor conditions and communicate updates as needed.
