Charlottesville Police Department Joins Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - In support of the upcoming Special Olympics Virginia State Summer Games on June 6th and 7th, the Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) will participate in the Region 8 Law Enforcement Torch Run on Thursday, June 5th at 5:00 PM.
CPD will be joined by fellow law enforcement agencies and local Special Olympics athletes in this meaningful event promoting inclusion and awareness.
This year’s run is a slow-paced, formation-style route beginning at the Albemarle County Police Department (1600 5th St) and concluding at the Charlottesville Police Department (606 E. Market St). The final leg of the run will pass through Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall, inviting community engagement along the way.
Community members are encouraged to join the run alongside law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes to show their support. A $25 registration fee includes a 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics t-shirt.
