CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – You're invited to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Housing Expo on Saturday, April 12 from 10 AM to 3 PM at Carver Recreation Center (223 4th Street NW). This event includes housing resources, professional guidance, and community connections. Whether you're a homebuyer, renter, or landlord, this event is for you!
Workshops & Information Sessions:
- Fair Housing & Your Rights - 10:30 AM
- Presenter: Todd Niemeier - Director, Charlottesville Office of Human Rights
- Todd Niemeier (he/him) has led the City's Office of Human Rights since 2021 and has been with the department since 2018. His background includes community outreach, agriculture, disability services, and international volunteer work- all of which reflect his deep commitment to equity and community service.
- First-Time Homebuyer Resources - 11:45 AM
- Presenter: S. Lisa Herndon - Realtor & Housing Advocate
- S. Lisa Herndon is a respected real estate professional with a background in customer service, branding, and negotiation. She serves the greater Charlottesville area, bringing clarity and heart to first-time buyers navigating today's housing landscape. Lisa is also active in local efforts to address the affordable housing crisis.
- Renter Responsibilities - 12:45 PM
- Presenter: Morgan Hultman - Housing Projects Coordinator, Albemarle County
- Morgan Hultman has over 13 years of property management experience across income levels. She now ensures compliance for affordable housing programs in Albemarle County. Her session offers a renter-friendly overview of lease basics, responsibilities, and state housing regulations.
