Accepting Applications for Boards and Commissions Until February 1!

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City provides a wide variety of Boards and Commissions that encourage members to participate in discussions that affect and shape the future of our City. We believe it is not only the right, but the responsibility of interested and capable citizens to become engaged in local government policy by advising City Council on important community-related issues. Serving on a Board or Commission is an excellent way to make a personal contribution to Charlottesville’s growth and can be a rewarding experience for everyone! 

Applications are due by February 1, 2025, unless otherwise noted. Please view the advertisement for the vacant position to verify the application deadline. City Council will make the next regular round of board appointments at the February 18, 2025 Council meeting.

The City of Charlottesville has openings on the following boards & commissions: 

  • Affordable Housing Fund Committee (CAHF)
  • Board of Architectural Review (BAR)
  • Economic Development Authority (CEDA)
  • Citizen's Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC)
  • Community Development Block Grant Taskforce (CDBG)
  • Human Rights Commission
  • Local Board of Building Code Appeals
  • Minority Business Commission
  • Police Civilian Oversight Board (PCOB)
  • Sister Cities Commission
  • Towing Advisory Board
  • Tree Commission
  • Vendor Appeals Board
  • Youth Council
