Historic Resources Committee Develops Downtown Walking Tour Map
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville Historic Resource Committee (HRC) has released the Historic Downtown Walking Tour Map to guide visitors and community members on a pedestrian-friendly exploration.
The Historic Downtown Walking Tour Map was developed with feedback from community groups and individuals with an initial print of 1,500 and a reprint planned for later this fall. Maps are available at locations around town (hotels, the public library, City Hall, etc.) and online via the City’s website.
Dede Smith, HRC Chair, said “Charlottesville's new Historic Walking Tour offers glimpses into the past with stories that have shaped Charlottesville, providing connections that will enrich both the experience of living in our city and visiting it.”
Moving forward, the HRC will examine other themes that could be presented through walking tours such as architecture, industry, art, music, notable figures, and more.
