Charlottesville Welcomes the Indie Short Film Festival March 20-22, 2026

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The City of Charlottesville is pleased to announce the Indie Short Film Festival’s return to Downtown Charlottesville March 20–22, 2026, bringing filmmakers and film lovers together for a three-day celebration of independent cinema.

The festival will showcase more than 100 short films from around the world, highlighting emerging and established filmmakers across a wide range of genres and storytelling styles. Screenings and events will take place at several downtown venues, including Violet Crown Cinemas, Vinegar Hill Theatre, Vault Virginia, Common House, and The Bradbury.

In addition to film screenings, the festival will feature filmmaker panels, workshops, live table reads of award-winning screenplays, and networking opportunities for creatives and audiences alike. An Audience Choice Award will allow festival-goers to help select one of the event’s top honors, with winners announced during a Sunday brunch awards ceremony.

The Indie Short Film Festival aims to celebrate bold storytelling and strengthen Charlottesville’s vibrant arts community by providing a platform for diverse voices and innovative filmmaking.
