Sgt. Eric Thomas

Sgt. Eric Thomas currently serves as the Community Involvement Coordinator.

After graduating Ferrum College with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Sociology, Sgt. Thomas started his career with the Danville Police Department, where he honed his skills and gained valuable experience. However, life led him to Charlottesville, VA, where he found a new home and a calling to serve with the Charlottesville Police Department in 2013.

Sgt. Thomas’s commitment to making a positive impact in his community is evident through his diverse roles within the Charlottesville Police Department. Sgt. Thomas is a certified Crime Prevention Specialist, Gang specialist, General Instructor, Field Training Officer, Bike Team member, and Assistant Team Leader of Crisis Negotiation Team.  Despite his busy schedule, Sgt. Thomas finds solace in spending quality time with his two children. As an avid angler, he enjoys fishing with his children, cherishing every moment of family bonding.
