Initiatives Managed by City Manager

Most major projects undertaken by the City of Charlottesville are managed by specific departments that report to the City Manager's Office. Other projects that cross departmental responsibilities and that generate, or have the potential to generate, significant community inquiries are managed directly by the City Manager and Deputy City Managers.

  1. ARPA Community Arts & Festival Grants

    The City of Charlottesville Community Arts and Festival Grants Program is a grant program created to respond to the negative economic impacts of the pandemic. 

  2. Deer Population Management

    City Council approved the Deer Population Management program in response to numerous and sustained complaints about hazardous driving conditions, health concerns stemming from Lyme disease, landscapes being impacted by an overabundant deer population, and the health of the local herd.

  3. Downtown Mall Committee

    The Downtown Mall Committee is tasked with discussing issues and ideas for the management and operations of the Downtown Mall. 

  4. Neighborhood Connections

    Neighborhood Connection is a citizen-focused alliance network that helps provide Charlottesville residents with the resources they need to promote, preserve and ensure the character of their communities. 

  5. Roadside Memorials

    Roadside memorials at the site of deaths resulting from automobile, bicycle or pedestrian accidents that occur on public streets within the City of Charlottesville.
