Traffic Updates: Midway Manor Bus Shelter Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Tomorrow, Tuesday July 29
Temporary Road Closure and Trolley Detour Planned from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT), in partnership with the City of Charlottesville, invites the public to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of a new bus shelter at Midway Manor. The event will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, July 29, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the CAT bus stop in front of the Midway Manor apartment building.
To safely accommodate the event, Charlottesville Parks & Recreation will assist in temporarily closing the inbound portion of South Street West from the Ridge Street entrance to the bus shelter at Midway Manor. This closure will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. While outbound traffic will still be able to exit, inbound traffic will not be allowed to enter South Street West during this time. Please note that although only part of the street is closed, drivers may be impacted as entry will be blocked.
In addition, CAT’s Trolley route will be temporarily detoured during the closure. From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the following stops will not be served:
During this period, the trolley will be rerouted via McIntire Road to Market Street to maintain service to nearby areas.
The celebration will include remarks from City Manager Sam Sanders, CAT Director Garland Williams, and Mary Carey, a longtime Midway Manor resident. Guests can enjoy light refreshments, giveaways, and a CAT bus on-site for attendees to explore.
This event highlights the City’s continued investment in public transportation and equitable mobility options for all residents. Riders, neighbors, and community members are all invited to attend and celebrate this meaningful improvement in transit infrastructure.
