Illegal Firearm Modifications Recovered in Operation
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - On November 29, 2024, CPD detectives conducted an operation into the illegal sale of firearm parts including extended magazines, trigger switches, and firearm suppressors within the Prospect neighborhood.
As a result of this operation, firearm components, that when installed on a handgun, would allow the handgun to fire automatically, commonly referred to as “Glock switches,” were recovered. Other items recovered were several firearm suppressors, extended magazines, several firearms, marijuana, and U.S. Currency.
Mr. Clifton Long was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- 18.2-248.1 – Possession W/ Intent to Distribute Marijuana (Felony)
- 18.2-308.2 – Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon (Felony)
- 18.2-308.5:1 – Manufacture/Import Trigger Activators (Felony)

Mr. Long is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
