CPD Warns Public of Personal Information Scam

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) has been made aware of an ongoing scam targeting individuals and their personal information. These scammers are attempting to leverage personal CPD information and/or records.

It is NOT CPD procedure to call to obtain personal information or set up appointments unless it pertains to a specific police report that has been filed. Please do not send money or give personal information over the phone.

If you believe you are a victim of this scam, please call (434) 970-3280, email us, or visit us in person.

Though the scammer’s number may impersonate the services desk, calling directly will connect you with our department.
