Driver Arrested in East High St. Hit & Run Case
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – A male suspect has been charged and arrested in connection to a Hit & Run case involving a bicyclist.
On Tuesday, October 18th, 2022, at approximately 2:52 p.m., a witness called in a report of a cyclist who was struck by a vehicle on East High St. The Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) Traffic Unit responded to the call and upon arriving at the scene, was not able to locate the cyclist or the driver. At the time of the incident, neither party involved called in a crime or hit and run.
After a thorough investigation, the CPD Traffic Unit was able to identify 31-year-old John Dean Sherwin of Orange, Virginia as the driver. A Felony Hit & Run with Injury (46.2-894) warrant was obtained for Sherwin. On Saturday, November 5th, 2022, Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Dean Sherwin.
