The Charlottesville Fire Department (CFD) has announced the promotion of Captain Jeremy Evans to Battalion Chief, effective October 20, 2022. He has served the department since 2006 (16 years).

Evans currently serves as CFD's Emergency Management Coordinator in addition to his role of Assistant Fire Marshal. Throughout his career, Jeremy has served in the following capacities: Assistant Fire Marshal, Fire Captain, VA Air National Guard, VA Army National Guard, and EMT for the City of Roanoke.

In his new position, he will be responsible for continued emergency preparedness framework planning, maintaining and cultivating relationships with regional partners, fostering new tactical plans in conjunction with the chief of police and fire, grants management, and crisis management in the event of a critical City incident.

In regards to Evan's recent promotion, Interim City Manager, Michael C.
