Update 9/16/2022, 12:25PM

At approximately 4:22PM, an officer advised the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) that he was out with a wanted suspect with whom he was familiar with.

After a few moments of speaking with the suspect, he fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed before the officer could bring him into custody. The suspect collided with multiple vehicles as he fled the scene.

The responding officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle at a nearby street close to the scene of the incident. As they approached the vehicle, the suspect presented a firearm and a single shot was fired from inside of the vehicle. As the officers inspected the vehicle, they found that the suspect had suffered a self-inflected gunshot wound.

The officers attempted life saving measures and emergency personnel were immediately dispatched. After emergency personnel arrived, they declared the single occupant deceased.

This was an isolated incident; there is no threat to the community.

*The investigation is still ongoing; there is no additional information at this time.
