CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - On October 22, 2021, at6:45 p.m., Charlottesville Police and Fire personnel responded to the the Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse at the intersection of W. Water Street and W. Main Street for the report of a suspicious item. The surrounding area has been secured, and an investigation is underway. Per CPD protocol, the Virginia State Police Bomb Squad has been dispatched and is responding to the scene.
The public should avoid traveling in this area until further notice.
