Charlottesville Man Arrested After Brandishing Weapon Near City Hall
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - On September 16, 2024, the Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) responded to the report of a firearm being brandished at a City employee on the Downtown Mall in the area of the City Hall Annex.
CPD officers and detectives responded quickly and located a suspect in the area. That person, Toreke Barbour of Charlottesville, was arrested and charged on location and a firearm was discovered on his person. The victim was not injured.
Barbour was taken to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail where he was held in custody on the following charges:
§ 18.2-308.2 - Convicted Violent Felon in possession of a firearm
§ 18.2-308.2 – Concealed carry by a convicted felon
§ 18.2-282 – Brandishing a firearm
He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
