Public Service Announcement: CPD will NEVER Call and Ask for Money or Personal Information

We have been made aware of scammers impersonating members of the Charlottesville Police Department in order to collect false civil debts.

It is NOT CPD procedure to call to obtain personal information or set up appointments unless it pertains to a specific police report that has been filed. Please do not send money or give personal information over the phone.

If you believe you are a victim of this scam, please call (434) 970-3280, email us, or visit us in person.
