CPD Investigates Two Shootings That Occurred Overnight
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - CPD responded to 2 shootings yesterday evening. Out of the 2 calls, both resulted in injury.
108 Lankford Ave
At approximately 8:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in front of 108 Lankford Ave. Upon arrival, a 23-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was located. Officers immediately provided life-saving measures to include applying a tourniquet to the victim. When medics arrived on scene, the victim was immediately transported to UVA Medical Center, where he is currently in serious but stable condition. The initial investigation indicates the victim and suspect may be known to one another. There is no indication that this incident is random.
1221 East Market St. (Holly's Diner)
At approximately 11:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to 1221 East Market St. in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. The victim, a 30-year-old male, suffered one non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to UVA Medical Center for treatment. The initial investigation indicates that a disorder inside of the establishment led to a shooting which occurred outside. It is believed that the suspect and victim may be known to each other.
