CFD Now Hiring Emergency Services Program Specialist
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Charlottesville Fire Department (CFD) is actively seeking an Emergency Services Program Specialist.
The salary range for this position is $54,246.40 - $69,472.00 annually. The starting offer will be based on the candidate's applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with excellent benefits, including 13 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, City retirement options, gym membership reimbursement, and continuing education/training opportunities.
The Emergency Services Program Specialist will play a crucial role within our department, performing complex professional and administrative tasks under the general direction of the fire chief. Key responsibilities include administering the City’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Cost Recovery Program, coordinating with the City Finance Department on all financial aspects of accounts receivable for revenue, and assisting with the preparation of the department’s budget.
The position requires individuals who are capable of making sound decisions independently, with most decisions affecting daily procedural tasks and A/R management being made autonomously. Changes in policies, rules, or regulations may necessitate further review from superiors such as the battalion chief, deputy chief, or fire chief.
High accuracy and good decision-making skills are paramount to this role, as the work involves researching, collecting data, analyzing, and publishing information, as well as overseeing the reconciliation of patient care information relative to the billing of ambulance transports. Additionally, managing customer service calls related to patient accounts, ensuring the transmittal of billing files to the vendor, and ensuring Medicare billing compliance are essential duties.
