CPD Responds to Shooting on South St.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – On June 25, 2023, at approximately 3:35 p.m., CPD officers responded to a shooting on the 200 block of South St. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased, 72-year-old male on the scene.
This is an ongoing investigation; however, detectives can confirm that the victim, 72-year-old William Barksdale III of Charlottesville, suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. CPD is currently not searching for any suspects related to this case. As new information becomes available, a more detailed update will be provided.
