Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) and the City of Charlottesville will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities. Policies:

CAT will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services and activities.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a CAT program, service or activity, should contact CAT ADA Coordinator at (434) 970-3649, Option 1 or transit@charlottesville.gov as soon as possible but no later than 72 hours before the scheduled event.

Complaints that a CAT program, service or activity is not accessible to persons with disabilities should be directed to CAT ADA Coordinator at (434) 970-3649, Option 1 or transit@charlottesville.gov.

Accessibility to Information

CAT strives to make information concerning transportation services available to individuals with disabilities. This obligation includes making adequate communications capacity available, through accessible formats and technology, to enable users to obtain information and schedule service" (Section 37.167(f)).

Information about CAT’s ADA paratransit services, policies, forms, routes, procedures, etc will be provided in writing or in an alternate accessible format upon request; CATs webpage is text-to-speech (screen reader) friendly for individuals who are blind or low-vision. To obtain paper copies of this Policy and Procedure Manual, as well as information regarding available accessible formats, call Alex Pasqualone, CATs Marketing Coordinator at 434-970-3349. Individuals with hearing impairments may contact the Relay Service at 711 for assistance with the call.
