TJPDC HOSTS PUBLIC WORKSHOP ON POSSIBLE BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN CROSSING OF THE RIVANNA RIVERThe Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission is holding a public workshop this evening, November 12th from 6:00 to 7:00pm to inform community members of a recently completed feasibility study for a bicycle and pedestrian crossing of the Rivanna River to connect the City of Charlottesville to the Pantops area of Albemarle County. TJPDC staff, along with staff from City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and Virginia Department of Transportation, will seek feedback from the public of the identified locations and early design concepts for the crossing structure.
The public workshop will be held virtually via Zoom. The Zoom link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86502466360?pwd=aElTcm0rVktRODJ4WW8ydkFvK1d3QT09 and the passcode is 163895. Registration is not required.
Numerous plans and hours of public engagement have identified a bicycle and pedestrian crossing of the Rivanna River as a high priority for our region. Public feedback at this upcoming meeting will inform the decisions of staff and elected officials regarding how and if they will proceed with this potential project.
