Leaf Collection Begins Monday, November 2nd

Promotional Image Announcing that "Leaf Season is Here"

The City of Charlottesville will start residential curbside collection of leaves on Monday, November 2, 2020. Each neighborhood will be visited by vacuum trucks three times during the season on a set rotating schedule.

Key Highlights:

  • Residents can sign up for text alerts reminding them of when their collection week  is coming up
  • Leaves will be collected loose at the curb (no bags!)
  • A drop-off location is available on Saturdays again this year
  • Leaves are brought to a local farm for composting, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves local soils

Where to Rake Leaves for Collection:

Loose leaves will be collected at the curbside. Residents should pile unbagged as close to the curbside/street as possible without blocking the travelway for pedestrians, bicycles, or motor vehicles.  On-street parking areas can be used for leaves. Four examples of where to pile leaves are in the images below:Example images of where to pile leaves for collection. Contact 434-970-3830 for assistance.
