Proposed New Charlottesville Voting Precincts Introduced to City Council


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – On January 17, 2023, revised boundary lines for the nine Charlottesville voting precincts were presented before City Council. The proposal included the retirement of Tonsler Recreation Center and Alumni Hall as polling places and introduced Jackson-Via Elementary and Charlottesville High School as replacements.

There will be a public comment period starting on February 1, 2023 and ending March 5, 2023. A public hearing will take place on February 6th, and the ordinance will be voted on by Council on March 6, 2023.

During the public comment period, members of the public may submit comments via fax, mail, email, telephone, or in-person. Comments may be faxed to (434) 970-3249, emailed to vote@charlottesville.gov, mailed via postage or delivered in person to the General Registrar’s office located at 120 7th Street NE, City Hall Annex, Room 142, Charlottesville VA, 22902, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or by calling 434-970-3250.
