Renewal of a Passport

An adult passport can be renewed without the assistance of a passport agency if less than 15 years of issue date. A minor’s passport cannot be renewed and requires a new application using the DS-11 Form. We do assist people who need assistance with the renewal process however; you are still responsible for the mailing of this application.

Don’t know which form you may need? Use the Form Finder to find out.

Payment

Two checks or money orders are needed at the time of the appointment, per applicant:

  •  1 made payable to the City of Charlottesville, Treasurer for Acceptance Fees
  • 1 made payable to the U. S Department of State, for all necessary passport fees

The Passport Acceptance Facility in Washington D.C. is the only facility allowed to accept payment types other than check or money order.
